The final episode of Lost tied up some loose ends better than others. Here is a quickrundown of what happened to your favourite Lost characters:
Hurley and Ben: the loveable comic relief becomes the new protector of the island after Jacob is murdered by the Man in Black. And he gives the job of right hand man to none other than Ben Linus who's change of heart in the last few episodes apparently makes up for all his evil and despicable acts in the past.
Kate: the beautiful criminal helps Jack to defeat the Man in Black. Before he sacrifices himself to save the island, Jack and Kate profess their love for each other. Kate convinces Claire she is a good mother and to leave the island and escapes on the Ajirra plane with Sawyer, Frank, Richard and Miles.
Sawyer: the handsome con man with a secret moral compass eventually does the "right thing" once more. He double crosses both the Man in Black and Charles Widmore to turn them against one another. Sawyer helps to free Ben from under a trapped tree and escapes on the plane with Kate and Claire.
Sun and Jin: as the group tries to escape the island on Widmore's submarine a bomb planted by the Man in Black in Jack's backpack explodes and sinks the submarine. In the explosion Sun gets trapped under wreckage and begs Jin to leave her. However the Korean hero stays beside her side and the two drown together holding hands as the submarine sinks.
Sayid Jarrah: when the Man in Black deceives Jack into carrying explosives aboard Charles Widmore's submarine the former Iraqi Republican Guard takes the bomb away to the other side of the submersible to detonate, saving the survivors but killing himself in the process.
Sayid: the Iraqi ex-torturer saves the other survivors in a heroic sacrifice. Sayid takes the bomb planted by the Man in Black in Jack's backpack and blows himself up, thereby saving the group from destruction.
John Locke: after becoming leader of the Others, Locke really was killed by Ben Linus and his doppelganger on the island is really the Man in Black. His body is found and given a proper burial and his goal of protecting the island is taken over by Jack.
Jack: the leader of the Oceanic Flight survivors, Jack fatally stabs the Man in Black and saves the island from destruction. In the process however the good surgeon is fatally wounded and he passes away in the exact same spot as the series began with Walt's dog Vincent at his side. - 42569
